I am very much a self-oriented creator. I make things that I like. Even if I never share my creations, I will still be glad to have made them. I am not sure how people can find the energy to go all the way with a thing that they don’t love themselves. I guess one would have to be highly motivated by the imagined or self reported lived experiences of others. Even then, what would I do with limited reach and no one around me who seems to appreciate what I create in the same way that I do? I would burn out pretty fast. So instead I focus on what I like. Not because Rick Rubin told me to, but because it is the only energy source that has ever propelled me across the finish line.
